Energy risk assessment

Book ·
OSTI ID:6458220
Revised data from the author's original Canadian report (AECB-1119, see EAPA 4:3952 and 5:15) comparing the risks of various energy options cover the full energy cycle of coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear, solar, methanol, and hydro. Comparisons of risk per unit energy, including the risks of material acquisition and construction and the proportions of risks in lost-time, transportation, and back-up systems show that nonconventional energy sources can have as high risks as conventional sources. These results, with considerably more documentation behind them than the original AECB-1119, essentially corroborate the earlier results. 669 references, 35 figures, 31 tables. (DCK)
