Apparatus for co-generation of electric power

This patent describes an apparatus for deriving an alternating current electrical output signal having a preselected waveform and frequency from a variable higher frequency alternating current electrical input signal. The apparatus comprises: input terminals for receiving an input signal and output terminals for connection to an electrical load; dividing means connected to the input terminals for receiving and dividing an alternating current input signal having a first frequency into continuous input signal segments, each segment having a different amplitude. The dividing means comprises a mechanically driven alternating current generator including a winding for extracting the input signal from the generator, the winding having first and second ends, and individual electrical connections to the winding intermediate the first and second ends for extracting the input signal segments from the generator; switching means receiving the input signal segments from the dividing means for selectively transmitting to the output terminals different ones of the input signal segments; and control means connected to the switching means for controlling over time the selective transmission by the switching means of the input signal segments to produce at the output terminals an alternating current output signal having a preselected waveform of a second frequency lower than the first frequency.
