New machine for finning of tubes of air cooling exchangers

Journal Article · · Chem. Pet. Eng. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

This article describes a finning machine in which the spiral turns of straight aluminium strip are formed by the winding unit as the result of rolling it between two special rolls. Rolling of the spiral grooves under the spiral fins is done by three drive rolls uniformly spaced around the tube. The machine, which is designed for the production of highly finned tubes up to 8 mm long, includes a loader, equipment for receiving the tubes, and a special support for the coil of strip. The rate of rotation of the rolling rolls is 20-400 rpm and of the tube being finned 80-1600 rpm. It is determined that the equipping of machines with devices for L-shaped finning makes it possible to broaden production capabilities.
