The hydriotris(pyrazolyl)borate, HB(Me/sub 2/PZ)/sub 3//sup -/, has been investigated as an alternative to the cyclopentadienyl system with the idea that the HB(Me/sub 2/PZ)/sub 3//sup -/ ligand might help to inhibit the apparent oxidizing power of N/sub 3/S/sub 3/Cl/sub 3/ and therefore allow the preparation of complexes of the type CpM(CO)/sub 3/NS where Cp = eta/sup 5/-C/sub 5/H/sub 5//sup -/ and M = Mo or W. Detailed preparation schemes and characterization procedures are described for compounds of this type. Both product yields and spectroscopic data for the products are included.
