Hydridotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)borate tungsten alkyne complexes for nonlinear optics

The authors discuss the reactions racemic or enantiomerically pure Tp{prime} (CO)IW-(C{sub 6}H{sub 5}C{triple_bond}CCH{sub 3}) (Tp{prime} = hydridostris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)borate) yielding an {eta}{sup 2}-allenyl anion. Elimination yields chiral conjugated enynes. NMR, IR, UV-vis, and elemental analysis were used to characterize the products. The X-ray crystal structure of Tp{prime}(CO)IW (C{sub 6}H{sub 5}C{triple_bond}CCH=C(CH{sub 3})C{sub 5}H{sub 4}FeC{sub 5}H{sub 5}) is reported. 17 refs., 7 figs., 5 tabs.
