Status of strategic petroleum reserve activities as of September 30, 1982

During fiscal year 1982, about 78.6 million barrels of oil were delivered to the Strategic Petroleum Resrve, for an annual average fill rate of about 215,300 barrels per day. As of September 30, 1982, the Department of Energy reported that the Reserve contained about 277.9 million barrels. This report discusses a number of significant events, which occurred during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 1982, that affect the Reserve. It also discusses the progress being made in developing additional storage capacity for the Reserve.
