Time-of-day and seasonal demand for electric power

Conference · · Growth and Change; (United States)
OSTI ID:6442583
A proposed model is described that will use seasonal and time-of-day (TOD) demand to forecast system loads for power-supply regions on a daily and hourly basis. The residential demand model allows for weather variations and the fact that weather effects are asymmetrical and the stock of weather-sensitive appliances varies. The pricing of electricity should take into account the fact that some appliances are used at particular times and that electricity prices will affect hourly use profiles even when time-of-day is not a part of the price structure. The model is planned for use at Data Resources, Inc. fnr the Electric Power Research Institute. 23 references.
