Utica Street Residence: a passive solar retrofit

The Utica Street Residence is an old ranch style house which has been remodeled into a passive solar structure which contains three major passive solar architectural components. The first architectural component is a greenhouse attached to the south side. The second solar element which is integrated into this renovation in extensive direct gain glazing. The third passive element employed in the new design is a clerestory array which runs east to west over the center hallway. (MHR)
