0/sup +/. -->. 0/sup -/b/sup +/ decay of /sup 18/Ne and the determination of F/sub r/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
The b/sup +/ branch of /sup 18/Ne to the 1081-keV J/sup r/ = 0/sup -/, I = 0 level of /sup 18/F is observed to have an intensity of (1.71 +- 0.41) x 10/sup -4/ times that of the superallowed Fermi transition to the 1042-keV J/sup r/ = 0/sup +/, I = 1 level. Our result plus the previously measured upper limit on parity mixing in the 0/sup +/,0/sup -/ doublet of /sup 18/F yields an upper limit of +- (0.5 +- 1.3) x 10/sup -6/ for F/sub r/. This limit is largely independent of details of nuclear structure.
