beta. /sup +/ decay of /sup 18/Ne and the ft value of the 0/sup +/. -->. 0/sup -/ branch

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
The /sup 18/Ne..-->.. /sup 18/F ..beta.. decay was studied by measuring the /sup 18/F deexcitation ..gamma.. rays relative to the dominant superallowed 0/sup +/..-->..0/sup +/ (1042 keV) branch. The ratio of the intensity of the 0/sup -/ (1081 keV) deexcitation ..gamma.. ray relative to the 1042 keV deexcitation was found to be (2.97 +- 0.22) x 10/sup -4/. An absolute ..beta.. branch I/sub ..beta../ = (2.14 +- 0.26) x 10/sup -3/% and ft = (0.99 +- 0.12) x 10/sup 7/ sec for the 0/sup +/..-->..0/sup -/ ..beta.. decay branch were deduced. This value together with the existing result on the parity mixing of the 0/sup +/,0/sup -/ doublet in /sup 18/F suggests Vertical BarF/sub ..pi../Vertical Bar = (0.4 +- 1.1) x 10/sup -6/. The absolute value for the 0/sup +/..-->..1/sup +/ (1700 keV) ..beta.. branch was deduced as I/sub ..beta../ = (0.183 +- 0.006)% and ft = (3.19 +- 0.12) x 10/sup 4/ sec.
