Mexico gas seen cheaper than Alaskan

The possibility seems good that natural gas supplies from Mexico may be cheaper than those from Alaska, but negotiations between the U.S. and Mexico for the purchase of gas are not complete. Critics of Energy Secretary Schlesinger's policies feel he has made negotiations difficult and may cause the U.S. to lose important deliveries of Mexican crude oil and gas. A Library of Congress study shows that Mexican production will rise during the 1980s at the same time U.S. demand is rising, but that production levels will depend on developing an extensive export market.
