Certain technological features of the process of molded coke production
In the method developed in the USSR for production of molded metallurgical coke from poorly-caking and gas coal types, the process is conducted continuously in a single technological flow, combining several sequentially performed technological stages. The principal stages are: preparation of the initial feedstock, its rapid heating to the plastic state temperature, the formation of the heated charge, and the coking of the plastic coal molds. An evaluation of the equipment in which the new technological processes are conducted from the point of view of fire and explosion hazard is necessary, since it may significantly affect the technological and design formulation of the process. In order to categorize the production of molded metallurgical coke, classify the rooms by fire hazard and develop recommendations for fire and explosion safety of the new technological process, appropriate characteristics of the initial coal types and the products of their processing at the stages of preparation and rapid heating of the charge were investigated. 6 references, 2 tables.
