EPRI increasing research on electromagnetic fields

Research at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) on the effects of electric and magnetic fields (EMF) on plants, animals, and humans, has shifted to epidemiological studies to determine if there is a relationship between EMF and cancer. The results of 19 epidemiological studies conducted by others were inconclusive and limited. The EPRI studies will pursue the possibility of a link between EMF and health effects by moving beyond biological screening studies on animals into studies of human cancer, exposure measurement, and some cellular level research. EPRI will work with 15 experts from industry and the scientific community to assure the quality of design and direction of its research effort.
