Features of the technological and thermotechnical operating regimes of the end heating flues on PVR system ovens

Journal Article · · Coke Chem. USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6430064
The thermal and technological operating regimes of the end heating flues in PVR system coking ovens was investigated in order to determine the causes of coke collapse. Coke collapse is due to low charge bulb density and uneven heating across the charge bed. Uneven heating results in different times for completion of the coking process in different parts of the charge and a tendency to collapse in those areas in which the process is completed first. Operational parameters designed to minimize coke cake collapse are discussed.
