Improving the benzene-free oil cooling technology and preventing formation of an emulsion

The use of a mixed absorber (coal wash oil and benzol rectification bottoms distillate) in the recovery of naphthalene and benzene by hydrocarbons is complicated by the formation of emulsions, particularly in the Raschig cooler. Distillation of the emulsion which is very resistant to chemical agents provided wash oil (9.8%), water (81%), residue (1.9%). It has been found possible to correct this problem by introduction of a thermal demulsifier (operation temperature 75-80/sup 0/C) into the benzene-free oil cooling system.
