Problem of producing an effective absorber for recovery of benzol hydrocarbons

Journal Article · · Coke Chem. USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6299806

The recovery of benzene hydrocarbons and naphthalene from coke oven gas is rendered inefficient by a decrease in the quality of the absorbant wash oil due to polymerization during regeneration, increased molecular weight (impairment of absorption capacity) and precipitation at high temperature (30/sup 0/C) in the scrubber. It has been found possible to increase the supply of wash oil by use of crude benzol distillation bottoms. The mixed wash oil-distillate bottoms constitutes an excellent absorber for the recovery of benzene hydrocarbons and naphthalene at low temperature.
