This volume discusses topics on ferrous, aluminum, titanium, magnesium, and amorphous rapidly solidified materials, as well as on the consolidation and the processing of these alloys. Papers are presented on the mechanical behavior of a consolidated RSR ferrous alloy, microstructures in rapidly solidified niobium aluminides, the characterization of rapidly solidified intermetallics based on Ti3Al, the solidification structure and the evolution of microstructure in dispersion-modified beta titanium alloy, and an investigation of rapidly quenched Mg-Ce alloys. Consideration is also given to the behavior of hydrogen in amorphous Pd80Si20, the influence of consolidation method on the structure and the properties of rapidly solidified Type 304 SS powders, the characterization of an explosively consolidated rapidly solidified Fe-16Ni-9Cr-5Mo-2Cu alloy powder, and the shock consolidation of rapidly solidified titanium alloy powders. Also discussed is rapid-solidification research at the NASA Lewis Research Center and a research perspective for niobium base superalloys via powder metallurgy.
