The volume includes topics on materials production; amorphous materials; titanium-magnesium, iron-nickel-copper, and aluminum materials; and commercialization and special applications. Papers are presented on the spray deposition of a stainless steel, computer simulation of rapid solidification in self-quenching, structure and properties of the Li-containing X2020 Al alloys produced by liquid dynamic compaction, gas-atomized Ti powder, and a microstructural study of rapidly solidified Ti alloys containing Er and B. Consideration is given to rapidly solidified Ti-W alloys with Ni and Si additions, structural relaxation in amorphous Fe(40)Ni(40)B(20), crystallization behavior of amorphous alloy Co(60)Ni(12)Si(14)B(14), and magnetic properties of surface-treated Fe-Si-B amorphous alloy. Additional papers are on microstructures in rapidly solidified Ni-Mo alloys, formation of the textured layer on the free-surface of the melt-spun Fe-Zr and Ni-Zr ribbons, and rapid solidification and mechanical characteristics of Ni-based metal matrix composites.
