Critical performance of ceramic processed YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ materials

The discovery of the YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ high-T/sub c/ superconductor has sparked a tremendous interest, both in scientific and popular circles, in superconductivity applications at liquid nitrogen temperatures (65 to 77K). In this paper we present a summary of the present status of the conductor development program at Argonne and point out those areas where short-term effort will be expended in order to improve the critical current densities of these materials.
