The new Dineh Bi Keyah oil field lying in the Chuska Mts. of Apache County, in the NE. corner of Arizona, looms as a major Arizona field development following testing during April of its fourth producer from the Hermosa-Molas series of the Pennsylvanian System. The field is producing more than 4,000 bbl of high-gravity oil per day ranging between 42-44$API gravity. Kerr-McGee Oil Corp., operators of the field, has filed a motion with the Arizona Oil and Gas Conservation Commission requesting 160-acre well spacing for the Lower Hermosa (Pennsylvanian) oil reservoir and a hearing has been scheduled for April 19, 1967. The drilling practice employed by Kerr-McGee is to set the 10-3/4-in. surface casing at 400 ft and cement with 500 sacks. Completion practices followed during field development have been to selectively perforate, using 1 shot per ft of pay zone in the Lower Hermosa section. Wells are swabbed natural, then cleaned up with MCA borehole acid treatment prior to sand oil fracturing. After load is swabbed back, the well is tubed and placed on the pump. The oil is trucked to the nearest pipeline loading point in the Shiprock area of northwestern New Mexico.
