Canadian report--gas, by-products markets bright

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6413676

A brief review of the market situation for natural gas and 2 of its most important by-products indicates why gas production and processing is so important in Canada. Domestic gas consumption is increasing rapidly, and some producers feel that discovery rates must improve considerably or exports of natural gas to U.S. will have to be terminated by the mid-1970's. Eastern Canadian markets account for the largest demand for natural gas production with about half of the company's sales going to this area for industrial uses. The U.S. Pacific Northwest is a promising marketing area for Canadian natural gas. Sulfur production and extraction techniques are being improved to meet the growing demand. Liquefied petroleum gas production is increasing tremendously as the result of favorable market prices at the U.S.-Canadian border.
