This report contains a section (No. 41-43) describing EPRI work with atmospheric fluidised bed pilot plants. Since 1977 work has been carried out on a 2 MW(e) plant at Babcock and Wilcox's Alliance Research Center. In 1979 EPRI amd TVA formulated plans for a 20 MW(e) plant to be built at TVA's Shawnee generating plant. Testing began at this plant earlier in 1982 and a test programme has been formulated to run until 1986. Details of the project are given. A further section (No. 43-46) describes work carried out on ammonia-based selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for the control of NO/sub/x emissions from coal-burning plant.
