Robotic decontamination at the Savannah River Plant

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6412921

Robotic decontamination techniques have been developed and used in two applications at the Savannah River Plant (SRP). Equipment was first used in a nonradioactive mockup at the Savannah River Laboratory (SRL) to demonstrate robotic technique and to train personnel prior to radioactive work. In actual field testing, radiation levels were reduced to goal levels with minimal exposure of personnel to radiation. The equipment and strategy used to decontaminate the radiation area are discussed. 4 refs., 10 figs.
