This paper describes the construction of the $840 million pipeline system, the All American Pipe Line Project. The system will transport heavy, high-sulfur crude oil from offshore California fields to compatible refineries throughout the Gulf Coast area. The biggest problem facing the pipeline builders is having enough pipe on hand to build the line as work progresses. A major task in making the pipeline project feasible was obtaining all of the necessary permits. The paper describes the pipe coatings, valves, storage tanks and river crossings involved with the project.
