Methane oxidation on certain vanadium- and palladium-containing catalysts with and without the presence of sulfur dioxide

Journal Article · · Kinet. Catal. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

The kinetics of methane oxidation have been studied, with and without the presence of SO/sub 2/, on a complex vanadium catalyst, a palladium-vanadium catalyst, and on palladium supported on silica gel. The palladium does not have any promoting effect on the process of methane oxidation. Sulfur dioxide increases the reaction rate but does not change the reaction mechanism. 23 references, 4 figures, 1 table.
