The rising demand for steam coal in Europe

A study is presented of potential European import market for steam coal. The article discusses, in brief, the current and predicted energy requirements of 20 European countries, the need for medium quality coal, secure supply, and diverse supply source. Prospective users of Western coal include large and small utilities, industry and European trade companies. The market for U.S. coal is considered uncertain because of problems with interrupted supply schedule, problems of logistics, and low quality coal. (JMT)
