MLGW coal-gasification project seen as viable, vital and duplicable in other urban areas

The Memphis Light, Gas and Water industrial fuel gas project is designed to supply medium-Btu gas to consumers in the Memphis area. The plant will use the U-Gas process developed by the Institute of Gas Technology and the feed will be western Kentucky coal. The project and the plant are described. It is suggested that the production of industrial fuel gas on this scale could be duplicated in many urban areas.
