At the Meeting, 256 papers include the following subjects. On power systems: system planning and operations, economic dispatch, load forecasting and scheduling, VAR problems, watt compensators, dispatcher training, system dynamic analysis, techniques for steady-static and transient analysis, studies of machine performance in systems, network solutions, and economic and financial analysis. On transmission and distribution matters, there are discussed: distribution engineering, system harmonics, dc transmission, dc fields and corona, transmission structures and conductors, overvoltage phenomena, insulation, and general problems, measurements and procedures. Power generation subjects considered includes: programmable controllers, station lighting and dc systems hydroelectric and wind power, and nuclear plant security. Rotating machinery matters include: theory, insulation, synchronous and induction machines and their transient. On substations, there are papers on static VAR systems, transient ground potential rise in gas-insulated substations, and digital protection of such stations. There are 11 papers on switchgear, 15 on power transformers, 7 on insulated conductors, 8 on power system relaying, 4 on measurement techniques, and 4 on nuclear power plant design. 95 papers are abstracted separately.
