This paper reports the results of an experimental investigation to evaluate the influence of the formation and fluid properties and the injection rate on the placement process. This study has been performed in full-scale and small physical wellbore models and, although carried out mainly with sand consolidation chemicals, the results may be applied to other miscible near-wellbore treatments. Evaluation of the phenomena observed emphasizes the placement advantages to be gained by the use of consolidation fluids with an increased viscosity. This is illustrated by the application of the data obtained to estimate the results of field sand-consolidation treatments. 12 refs.
