This paper discusses the new products and firing system enhancement modifications for pulverized coal fired boilers. Such products and modifications provide the design and operation tools to help meet the industry demand for reduced dependency on premium priced natural gas and oil presently consumed in all phases of operation of pulverized coal fired boilers. The utility and industrial steam generating industry requirements for reducing the cost and dependency of pulverized coal boilers on premium fuels are well established.
