The level structure of /sup 92,94/Nb has been studied with the reactions /sup 92,94/Zr(/sup 3/He,t)/sup 92,94/Nb, /sup 93/Nb(p,d)/sup 92/Nb and /sup 92,94/Zr(He,p2n..gamma..)/sup 94,94/Nb. The resulting level schemes have been compared with shell model calculations which assume a /sup 88/Sr core with the protons occupying the states 2p/sub 1/2/, 1g/sub 9/2/ and the neutrons in the 2d/sub 5/2/, 1g/sub 7/2/, 2d/sub 3/2/ and 3s/sub 1/2/ states. The residual interaction in the /sup 92/Nb configurations (..pi..g/sub 9/2/,nu d/sub 5/2/) and (..pi..g/sub 9/2/,nu g/sub 9/2/..pi../sup 1/) has been determined and compared with the predictions from a zero-range interaction (delta-force). Comparisons have also been made with the (..pi..g/sub 9/2/,nu g/sub 9/2//sup -1/) configuration in /sup 90/Nb. The shell model calculations were found to be moderately successful in determining spins and parities but not as successful for spectroscopic factors. The level schemes predicted by the delta-force were in partial agreement with the experimental results.
