Integrated rural energy planning

Book ·
OSTI ID:6399678
This book contains detailed case studies and guidelines for developing integrated rural energy centres. Taking examples from ten developing countries, the book discusses the inter-relationships between economic growth, energy production and consumption and the environment. It shows how present patterns of use of traditional energy sources - firewood particularly - are threatening both economic growth and the environment. The techniques outlined in the book to develop some new and renewable sources of energy offer some possible solutions to these problems of developing countries. The work has been co-ordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
