Gupta--Bleuler quantization of free massless Lagrangian gauge fields of arbitrary helicity: The bosonic case

The Gupta--Bleuler canonical quantization procedure for free massless gaugefields is applied to the Lagrangian potentials of arbitrary integer helicity.The supplementary conditions required to limit the particle states to thephysical subspace of positive-definite metric and positive energy are explicitlyset out using procedures that are uniform for all spins, bosonic and fermionic.The well-known lower-spin results (spins 1 and 2), where some of the arbitraryspin features are vacuous, arise as special cases.
