Measurement of the polarization rotation coefficient A in pp scattering at 970 MeV

The Wolfenstein parameter A was measured in pp scattering for 10 angle values at 970 MeV. The measured values of A were used in a phase-shift analysis of pp scattering at a fixed energy, which considerably decreased the uncertainty in the phase shifts. Three sets of phase shifts were obtained which give greatly differing predictions of the observed values and amplitudes of the scattering matrix.
