The first example of an organogallium compound with a Ga-Te bond, ((Me{sub 3}CCH{sub 2}){sub 2}GaTePh){sub 2}, which is stable at room temperature, has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, {sup 1}H NMR, and {sup 125}Te NMR spectroscopies, and an X-ray structural study. The dimeric molecule crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2{sub 1}/c with unit cell dimensions of a = 18.864 (7) {angstrom}, b = 10.041 (5) {angstrom}, c = 19.869 (9) {angstrom}, {beta} = 101.80 (3){degree}, V = 3,684 (5) {angstrom}{sup 3}, Z = 4, D{sub calcd} = 1.505 g cm{sup {minus}3}, R = 0.030, and R{sub w} = 0.035.
