World resources 1988-89
This book traces the connections among natural systems and the effects of human actions upon them. It assesses the impacts of economic decisions on the environment and emphasizes the importance of wise natural resource management in maintaining a sustainable economic base. It includes new sections on the rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems, the influence of economic policies on resource management, and the future of agriculture beyond the ''green revolution''. Added coverage is also given to Asian resource issues and to the links between energy use patterns and atmospheric and climatic changes. Standard chapters updated each year cover population and health, human settlements, food and agriculture, forests and rangelands, wildlife and habitats, energy, freshwater, oceans and coasts, atmosphere and climate, policies and institutions, and global systems and cycles.
