The effect of various cathode materials on the crystallization of copper out of a sulfate electrolyte under galvanostatic conditions was studied. A single pulse potentiostatic circuit was used. Oscillographs for the deposition of copper on a graphite and a lead cathode at various densities are given. Results demonstrated that cathode materials having the highest overvoltage to copper ions, such as niobium, tantalum, or lead, were the most effective in enhancing deposition.
