Disposal of hazardous wastes: problems and pitfalls
Journal Article

Presented are two case histories that exemplify the regulatory approach used by EPA Region II to address the toxic air pollutant emissions problems associated with the disposal of hazardous wastes. The two cases involve a municipal solid waste disposal and recycling plant on Long Island, N.Y., and a solid waste incinerator disposing of industrial wastes in southern New Jersey. Air pollution emission standards have been developed on a source-specific basis and EPA is requiring that each stationary pollutant source controls its emissions to achieve the standards.
