This book presents information on the following topics: Free radicals in coal conversion; mass transfer effects in coal conversion chemistry, and mass transfer effects in pyrolysis of coals. An extensive section is devoted to pyrolysis. Hydrogen-transfer reactions and solvent effects in Exxon Donor-Solvent coal liquefaction are also included. The authors of each chapter provide the reader with their perspective of what yet remains to be done in their particular research areas. The book provides a survey of the present scientific status in various areas of coal conversion chemistry, as that status relates to liquefaction, pyrolysis, and gasification.
