Compounds of thiourea and its complexes with metal salts

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Coordinat. Chem.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6366127

A review of the literature devoted to compounds of thiourea has been given. Three types of compounds have been described: clathrates, ionic complexes, and coordination compounds. Attention has been focused on the thiourea complexes of transition metals. The results of investigations of the structure of these complexes with the aid of x-ray diffraction analysis and other physicochemical methods have been considered. The stability and lability of the coordination compounds of thiourea and its N- and N,N'-substituted derivatives, as well as the features of these ligands in substitution reactions, have been characterized. The acid-base, redox, and thermal properties of thioamide complexes have been discussed.
