Short-term energy outlook

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6362811
This report is published once a year as a complement to the Short-Term Energy Outlook (Outlook), quarterly projections. The purpose of the supplement is to review the accuracy of the forecasts published in the Outlook, make comparisons with other independent energy forecasts, and examine current energy topics that affect the forecasts. Included in the report is an evaluation of the accuracy of the short-term energy forecasts published in the last six issues of the Outlook, for 1990 through the first half of 1991 and a comparison of EIA's based or mid'' case energy projections as published in the second quarter 1991 Outlook with recent projections made by five other major forecasting groups. The section focuses on macroeconomic assumptions, primary energy demand, and primary energy supply showing the differences and similarities in the six forecasts. A chapter describing the comparison of Bayesian VAR and unrestricted VAR forecasting models of motor gasoline and distillate fuel prices and quantities is also included. 13 figs., 6 tabs.
