Waterflow calorimetry would seem to be a natural diagnostic for Neutral Beam Injectors: it requires simple transducers, is non-destructive and directly measures the 'bottom line' number of delivered neutral power. Real Time Systems Group, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory has developed a micro-processor based CAMAC module for doing waterflow calorimetry which gives an energy measure accurate to better than 2% within 1 minute after a shot. The modules are relatively inexpensive and have been proven in normal operation at LBL's Neutral Beam System Test Facility. This paper describes the module and experience gained in its development and operation.
