Upgraded waterflow calorimetry for a total beam energy system for doublet III neutral beams

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5193131
The waterflow calorimetery system is a diagnostic experiment for the Doublet III neutral beam injectors at GA Technologies, Inc. The system measures the deposition of beam energy on various beam apertures and dumps. The upgraded waterflow calorimetry system has been designed to overcome these difficulties by discarding the multiplexer and individual waterflow modules, and utilizing an LSI 11/23 based mircocomputer for data acquisition and analysis for four neutral beamlines. Compensation for the cold water temperature drift in the energy calculations is done by the microcomputer software. The microcomputer allows for data analysis offline and during data acquisition and for data archiving to disk with magnetic tape backup available.
