Exxon Donor Solvent Coal Liquefaction Process: ECLP operating experience

By mid-April 1981, the Exxon Coal Liquefaction Pilot Plant (ECLP) had been on line 297 days since startup on June 24, 1980. Operations with coal in totaled 125 days, an overall coal-in factor of 42 percent. Testing is proceeding on Illinois No. 6 bituminous coal. Some expected plant problems have been solved with design changes, others that appeared during operations have been remedied, and still others are being investigated. This report presents the results of experiences during the first 9/one-half/months of operation. 6 refs.
