Using a method of batched introduction of carbon monoxide as inhibitor, determination was made of the upper limit of the relative number of active sites of palladium-containing catalysts for hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds. For a homogeneous catalyst which was a complex of palladium chloride for trinonylamine and for one deposited on mineral supports, the number of active sites (for the unsaturated compounds investigated) constituted 5-12% of the total quantity of palladium in the system.
