A control system for controlling a fuel injected internal combustion engine is described, comprising: feedback control means for providing a feedback signal by integrating a signal responsive to an exhaust gas oxygen sensor; actuation means for providing an actuating signal to at least one fuel injector with a pulse width related to the feedback signal; and inhibiting means for inhibiting integration of the signal by the feedback control means when the pulse width is less than a predetermined pulse width.
