Modification of the Theory of Dual Radiation Action for attenuated fields. I. Basic formalism

A modification of the Theory of Dual Radiation Action is described to take into account the effect of an attenuated beam of radiation across the sensitive site of the cell. It is shown that, unlike the case of uniform radiation, the coefficient of the dose-squared (intertrack) term is not constant, but varies in a manner dependent on the attenuation coefficient of the radiation and the geometry of the site.
