Carbon monoxide activation by organoactinides. Catalytic hydrogenation of inserted CO

This paper reports that homogeneous hydrogenation of the eta/sup 2/-acyls to the corresponding alkoxide derivatives (M(eta/sup 2/-COR) ..-->.. M-OCH/sub 2/R) can be readily effected at room temperature and less than 1 atm of H/sub 2/ pressure by using the hydride (Th((CH/sub 3/)/sub 5/C/sub 5/)/sub 2/H/sub 2/)/sub 2/ as a catalyst (M = Th or U).
