New detection methods and techniques with applications in liquid chromatography

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6341476
These new analytic techniques are described. (1) a three-dimensional detector which simultaneously monitors the refractive index, absorbance and fluorescence is based on the coupling of a tightly focused laser beam and microbore column liquid chromatography. (2) an absorbance detector which allows one to make differential absorbance measurements is based on Michelson interferometry with a laser. (3) A novel detection method which is based on the combination of an absorbance detector and an electrical conductivity detector allows one to detect nonabsorbing analytes. In this scheme analytes can be quantified without the need of standards. 63 refs., 13 figs., 2 tabs. (WRF)
