Speed meter drive device for automobile
This patent describes a speed meter drive device for use with a vehicle comprising: an output shaft projecting from a housing of a transmission or a transfer; a connecting member mounted to a projected portion of the output shaft for transmitting a torque generated by the output shaft to another member; a speed meter drive gear adapted to be rotated in cooperation with rotation of the output shaft to drive a speed meter; and a speed meter drive gear for rotating the speed meter driven gear; the speed meter drive gear is substantially cylindrical and is detachably mounted to an outer circumference of the connecting member, one end of the speed meter drive gear closest is in abutment against an inner race of a bearing installed between the housing and the output shaft. The other end of the speed meter drive gear is in abutment against a stepped portion formed on the connecting member; the speed meter drive gear is keyed to an outer circumference of the connecting member only at one end of the speed meter drive gear. The speed meter drive gear includes at least one project keyed to at least one groove on the connecting member; and end surfaces of the projection and the groove, farthest from the bearing, are separated from one another.
